You're going to have fun and make new friendships while getting some one-on-one advice from experienced coaches and athletes! Guest Athletes and Coaches will stop by in person or even "Face Time-in" to tell you their story and answer your questions! On top of that, you'll learn about training, keeping a running journal, injury prevention, mental toughness, race strategy, perceived effort, dynamic drills and some other tips that will give you that edge going into cross country season. You'll leave with new running skills that will see you through the season and if you use them and make them part of your training and racing it will benefit you throughout your running life.

Instead of being thrown into a camp full of a couple hundred high school athletes we're providing an experience tailored just for the the middle school runner. That means some one on one time for you to ask questions with the coaches, take notes, and go home with something. There's plenty of time for high mileage and tougher workouts. What we have planned for you is a jam packed schedule of running, learning, new friends and a lot of fun.

There will be three solid meals a day and snacks at night. Because we want our campers to be well rested while getting the fuel they need, we are committed to providing a safe, healthy environment that inspires you to integrate these habits into daily life beyond YRC. You'll also get a chance to meet the Youth Runner Magazine bloggers, interns, and editors. You'll even be able to offer your opinion and ideas on upcoming articles and stories!

Who we're looking for

If you want to get some good advice, be around other athletes that have the same interests and drive as you do, we’d love to have you! Please keep in mind that YRC is not just a camp, it's an experience that will get you mentally and physically prepared for the season. So while we will be having a ton of fun, you must be ready to keep up with the level of activity in the camp.

We will be providing a limited number of scholarships thanks to a generous grant from Willamette TC.
Scholarships are available based on your financial need and your desire to attend. If you really want to come to the camp but just can't afford it this year we'd like to hear from you. There are no financial forms to fill out, just email us a paragraph or two about your son or daughter, why you would like to be part of the camp, and why a scholarship will make the difference for you. Email dank@youthrunner.com along with your contact information.
